Thoroughly to realize the true nature of affirmative power is to possess the key to the great secret. We feel its presence in all the innumerable forms of life by which we are surrounded and we feel it as the life in ourselves; and at last some day the truth bursts upon us like a revelation that we can wield this power, this life, by the process of Spoken Thought. As soon as we see this, the importance of regulating our thinking & speaking begins to dawn upon us. We ask ourselves what this thought process is, and we then find that it is thought in spoken affirmative force that manifest into forms, which are the product of our own thought. We mentally conceive the form and then speak life into it. This must always be the nature of the creative process on whatever scale, whether on the grand scale of the Universal Cosmic Divine Mind of God or on the miniature scale of the individual mind of mankind; the difference is only in degree and not in kind. We may picture the mental machinery by which this is done in the way that best satisfies our intuition or intellect-- and the satisfying of the intuition or intellect on this point is a potent factor in giving us that confidence in our mental action through visualization without which we can effect nothing. The actual externalization of the thought through speech is the result of something more powerful than a mere intellectual understanding. It is the result of the inner mental state which, for want of a better word, we may call our deeply held emotional conception of our identity. It is the "identity of self", which we feel ourselves to be, which takes form from our own creating. For this reason, our spoken thought must be so grounded upon true knowledge that we shall feel the truth of it, and thus be able to produce in ourselves that mental attitude of feeling which corresponds to the condition which we desire to externalize. We cannot speak into manifestation a different sort of life to that which we realize is in ourselves, and ourselves to be. As Horace says, "Nemo dat quod non habet," we cannot give what we have not got. And, on the other hand, we can never cease creating forms of some sort by our subconscious mental activity, speaking life into form constantly. This point must be very carefully noted. We cannot sit still producing nothing: the subconscious mental machinery will always keep on turning out works of some sort, and it sits with us to determine what sort it shall be. The subconscious mental engine will produce on it own from it's own identity until we act upon it and direct its power and give it influence. In our entire ignorance and imperfect realization of this, we continuously create negative forms and speak life into them on autopilot. We imagine forms of death, sickness, sorrow, trouble, worry, doubt, fear and limitation of all sorts, and then speak life into these forms; with the result that, to us they become realities and throw their shadow across the path which would otherwise be bright with the many-colored beauties of innumerable loves, joys, flowers and the glory of the sunshine. This drama need not be. It is giving into the negative with our affirmative force which does the creating. Our Affirmative force does not belong to the darkness of negativity. Consider what is meant by the negative. It is the absence of something. It is the not-being, and is the absence of all that constitutes beingness and livingness. Left to itself, it remains in its own nothingness, and it only assumes form and activity when we give focused emotional attention to it by our thought imagination and spoken word. Here, then, is the great reason for practicing control over our thought Imagination and words. It is the one and only instrument we have to work with, but it is an instrument which works with the greatest certainty. It creates limitation if we imagine limitation, for joy if we imagine joy. Our imagination as feeling is the magnet which draws to us those conditions which accurately correspond to itself. This is the meaning of the saying that "thoughts are things and whatsoever you ask will be done for you by my Father in Heaven." But, you say, "how can I think differently from the circumstances all around me?" Certainly you are not required to say that the circumstances at the present moment are what they are not; to say so would be un-factual. However, what is wanted is not to think from the standpoint of facts and current conditions or circumstances at all. Think from the interior standpoint within. Think from the Truth of the center of all wisdom, all possibility, all presence, where there are no circumstances and only full potential. Think from the Eye of the storm, not the storm itself. Imagine from this position of alignment, One with God the Almighty within. From here you can dictate what circumstances shall be, and then leave the circumstances to take care of themselves. Let it Go! Refuse to entertain doubt or fear, reject fretting about it or thinking contrary things of worry or imagining other particular contrary circumstances. For if you are double minded do not think you will receive anything but double minded unstable ways in all your doings. Imagine and speak about these things; love, joy, kindness, patience, care, health, peace, and prosperity themselves. Put your imagination to work on these things, Imagine and dwell upon all the good that desires to flow to and through you in present moment. Here is an advertisement from Pearson's Weekly: "Think money. Big money-makers think money." This is a perfectly sound statement of the power of thought, although it is only an advertisement; but we may make an advance beyond thinking "money." We can think "Life" in all its fullness, together with that thought of life then the perfect harmony of conditions will include all that we need of money and a thousand other good things besides. For when we think Life and livingness we think from the "Kingdom of God". For some, of which money stands as the symbol of exchangeable value, other aspects of Life cannot be estimated by so material a standard. Therefore, think life, illumination, harmony, prosperity, happiness, abundance, balance, peace, joy, wealth, gratitude. Think the things themselves rather than this or that condition of them. And then by the sure operation of the Universal Law which God designed for our good pleasure, these things will form themselves into the shapes best suited to our particular desire. For God gives us the desires of our heart and so know what is planted in your heart is from the Father. Enter your life as active, living forces, which will never depart from you because you know them to be part and parcel of your own True Being just as God is.
